The tasks that firefighters receive are very difficult and important. Brave firefighters risk their lives just to save people or animals. This is their everyday life. We are very grateful to the firefighters who risk their lives to save ours. But the same cannot be said for animals.
Jessie – a Macaw parrot was trapped on one of the London roofs for several days. As she was injured she could not get off the roof, so a rescue team was dispatched. But Jessie didn’t think well of the rescue team, so she used some colorful words.
After Jessie’s owners couldn’t get Jessie off the roof, they called the London Fire Brigade to help.
Animal experts have explained to firefighters that when they want to approach them to try to calm them down, rescue them, they should treat them well and show love for the animals. So the fire chief cheated on Jessie with the words “I love you.”
Jessie responded back ‘I love you’ then firefighters discovered that she had a bit of a foul mouth and kept swearing.
The volunteer firefighter was ready to climb the ladder, grab the parrot and take it down.
The bird spoke Turkish and Greek. Well, the firefighter tried to get her off by speaking in those languages.
Jessie ignored firefighters’ attempts to keep her safe. After a while Jessie proved to be quite good. She returned to her owner again, but after flew to another roof, and then to a tree near her house.
The head of the London Fire Brigade issued a statement encouraging people, when they see that an animal is in trouble, without thinking of call them to rescue the animal.
If the RSPCA asks for their help, they will call, and firefighters would be happy if could help.
Jessie’s owner sent a video to the firefighter who helped save Jessie. With this video he thanked him for the help.
