Long beautiful veils have always been one of the most beautiful features of Christian brides. In fact, it’s every girl’s childhood dream to wear a long veil with a beautiful dress on her wedding day. Sadly, the long veil isn’t a part of everyone’s culture and not every bride can don the beautiful train on her big day. Yes, we’ve all been there, and we’ve all envied the lucky brides who get to walk the aisle like a real life princess. But before you scratch away the beautiful, long veil from your wedding list, here’s a thought— why don’t you wear a long dupatta, just like this Barbie bride in the pink lehenga?

The pictures of this beautiful bride have become quite a sensation on the internet and she has set major #bridaloutifitgoals for hundreds of to-be-brides in the country. Flaunting her long pink dupatta, this bride has created a new wave in the bridal fashion world and we just can’t stop drooling over her wedding pictures! The pretty bride in the Indian princess avatar is Deepika Grover S Sekhon an economist and digital marketer. The radiant bride wore a pink lehenga with golden embellishments from Asiana Courture, a Delhi-based boutique. The skirt, the blouse, and the long dupatta were of dark pink color and the shorter dupatta was in peach pink. While the blouse featured small golden flowers intertwined together, the skirt boasted the beauty of vertical Kalidar embroidery. The shorter dupatta with a pink and golden border was neatly pinned to the three-fourth sleeved blouse.

We agree that the lehenga is among the prettiest of the lot that we’ve seen but the star of the show award rightfully goes to the gorgeous long dupatta. The dupatta that became the talk of the town overnight was pinned to the neatly tied mid-raised hair bun of the bride. Made of the fabric net, the beautiful piece of clothing featured a golden border. The sparkly gold design and stones gave it an illusion of a pink sky with twinkling stars. We don’t know for sure about the exact length of the dupatta but it’s certain that the dupatta was long enough to sweep the spectators off their feet.

Deepika’s outfit was put to perfection with elegant gold jewelry encrusted with white stones and dangling drops of dark green beads. The green beads were an impeccable contrast to her pink lehenga. The jewelry set that was designed by the store Soni Sapphire included a heavy necklace, a pair of pretty earrings, and a maang tikka, all of them resonating the same, vibrant design.

The bride’s makeup artist Manleen Puri did a wonderful job with her brushes as she gave Deepika pretty rose gold eyelids, light, glowing face, and blush pink lips.

The Groom

The wedding that took place in The Westin Sohna Resort and Spa in Gurgaon, Haryana also witnessed an exceptionally well-dressed groom. Harsh, the handsome groom wore a white and gold sherwani which was teamed up with a baby pink stole and a traditional pink turban. Holding a regal sword as per the customs, Harsh looked nothing less than a royal prince.

Long dupattas are totally in for this wedding season and most of them are an additional piece of clothing along with a primary dupatta that is pinned to the lehenga. However, you can also wear just the one long dupatta. This dupatta can be either pinned to your hair bun like the way Deepika did it or you can get it pinned to the center part of your head. If you’re thinking about including the long train to your wedding outfit, there are few things you need to keep in mind.

Weddings are great but they are exhausting, especially for the bride. Hence, you need to make sure that you are going to be comfortable handling the long dupatta. You can fold the dupatta and rest it on one of your arms whenever you don’t want to leave it open. However, it’s very important to have two or more bridesmaids who would stay with you all the time and help you handle the dupatta. Another thing to keep in mind is to get a dupatta that will not weight you down or ruin your hair style. Get something done in a light fabric like net and ask your stylist to fix it firmly so that it doesn’t come off easily.

Try to choose different colors for the dupattas if you’re wearing two. Single colored outfits are too boring for a vibrant day like your wedding. Peach and yellow, magenta and turquoise, marsala and cherry red, olive green and light pink, and honey yellow and ruby pink are some color combinations that you can try.

To a girl, her wedding day is the most awaited and celebrated day of her life. Hence, it’s important that you dress up in what you like and what makes you feel comfortable on your big day. Long train or not, you’re going to be gorgeous either way. What do you think of veil-like dupattas with wedding lehengas? Let us know in the comments below.
