Create Your Own Foot Scrub Using Three Ingredients!
What You Will Need:
Ingredients:
- Honey
- Granulated sugar
- Olive oil
Materials:
- Small mixing bowl
- Measuring spoon
- Mixing spoon
- Small container (can be a glass jar)
Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients!
Grab your olive oil, granulated sugar, and honey. It’s better to use organic options for all ingredients so you’re sure of the quality that you are using for your skin.
Even though our feet are thick and oftentimes rough, it’s still skin that needs to be nourished with the right, natural ingredients.
Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, place a clean towel on your working table so you’re sure to catch any spillage or mess. But don’t worry, this recipe is incredibly simple that you likely won’t have any messy countertops or tables!
Step 2: Place Your Honey in the Bowl
After you have set your table up with your natural ingredients and tools, then you’re ready to get down and dirty!
First, grab your mixing bowl and measure out one tablespoon of organic honey. Make sure that you’re using pure honey because you don’t want any unnecessary ingredients to use for your foot scrub.
Step 3: Put Your Sugar In
Next up is sugar! Measure three tablespoons of white granulated sugar and place it in your mixing bowl.
Sugar is a better option than a salt scrub because of its properties and smoother granules. Salt can be a lot more abrasive when used in DIY foot scrubs, so we don’t recommend using it at all.
For alternatives, you can use other types of sugar, like coco sugar, or brown sugar. Confectioner’s sugar is not recommended as it is already in powder form, and might not do a good job at exfoliating your feet that has a thicker skin than the rest of your body.

Step 4: Now Its Time for Olive Oil!
The last ingredient in our three-ingredient DIY foot scrub is olive oil! Measure two tablespoons of organic olive oil and put in your mixing bowl that has the honey and sugar.
For skin care recipes like this easy DIY foot scrub, it is best to use extra virgin olive oil. There isn’t much of a difference if you opt for the regular one, but it’s good to know that you’re getting the purest form of the ingredient and the highest concentration of its beneficial properties.
If you don’t have olive oil in your pantry, you can use coconut oil which is also great for the skin. It has a bunch of great properties that promote healthy skin, so it’s a great substitute for olive oil.
Step 5: Mix, Mix, Mix!
Now that you have all your ingredients in your mixing bowl, it is time to mix them all together to create your own foot scrub!
Mix everything together using your mixing spoon. You should be left with a paste that is similar in consistency to any natural foot scrubs used in salons or spas.
At this point, you can add additional ingredients that can help with exfoliating and keeping your skin healthy. Some additional ingredients include lemon, coffee grounds, or even cocoa!
All of the additional ingredients written above are great for exfoliating the skin and keeping it clean and hydrated. It is important to use natural ingredients so you’re sure that you’re not putting any bad chemicals on your skin.
Step 6: Use Generously!
When you’re happy with your homemade foot scrub, place them in your prepared jar, and use them on your feet generously! You don’t have to scrimp on the application because you can easily make a new batch with ingredients you already have in your pantry!
DIY Foot Scrub Ingredients Benefits
1. Honey
Honey is a great addition to your foot scrub because of its viscous texture. It has antibacterial properties that clean your skin and prevents it from harboring dirt and other pollutants that you can get from your shoes, slippers, and simply the exposure to the floor.
Honey also speeds up your skin’s healing process, which is amazing if you have any small closed wounds on your feet. Just make sure that the wound is closed, otherwise, you don’t want to use this foot scrub at all because it might exfoliate the scab and interfere with the healing process.
2. Sugar
Aside from being a source of energy bursts, sugar is great for the skin in terms of scrubbing. It is a safe and natural way to exfoliate dead skin cells while keeping your skin hydrated.
This ingredient is ideal for those who have sensitive skin because as mentioned above, using sugar for your DIY foot scrub helps your skin retain moisture and does not leave it dry and dull.
3. Olive Oil
This type of oil has similar properties with honey in that it helps your skin retain moisture with its moisturizing properties. It has an impressive count of antioxidants which helps in promoting skin health.
Not only does olive oil moisturizes the skin and makes it healthy, but it also helps get rid of dead skin cells–a perfect addition to your exfoliating sugar!
