Knowing full well that it is majorly cliche to admit this, all of my dearest friends know that I am head over heels in love with New York City. I’ll save you from hearing me go on and on about every niche bit of history I know about the city (did you know there’s a secret river that runs through Manhattan?). Materials Needed: Printable taxi template, cardstock (in yellow, white, black), scissors, x-acto knife, ruler, 3/4″ hole punch, silver mirror board, gluestick, stamp pad, pencil with eraser, hot glue gun, yellow stripe washi tape
Step 1: Print two copies of the first page of the taxi template: one on white cardstock, one on yellow. Print one copy of the second page of the template on yellow.
Step 2: Cut the cars from both yellow sheets, and all other assets from the white; following the outer most lines. Score all tabs and fold. Trace the circle and rectangle onto black cardstock, and cut out a pair of each. Then, punch two 3/4″ rounds from the silver mirrorboard.
Step 3: Gluestick the silver and black rounds, and white windows onto the face of the larger car.
Step 4: Using an x-acto knife, cut a square into the eraser on the end of your pencil. Stamp the square in a checkered pattern along the side of the car.
Step 5: Cut a sheet of yellow cardstock into three 2” by 11” strips. Hot glue the strips onto the tabs, folding at each sharp angle, until you’ve gone around the perimeter of the car. Repeat with the smaller car.
Step 6: Glue the ‘taxi’ light and black rectangle detailing to the sides of the taxi packaging. Fill with goodies, and secure with yellow stripe washi tape!
