10 Foods That Don’t Have Shelf Life

The shelf life of the food can be quite confusing. Not only are there more dates to understand (these are “shelf life” and “best used until …”), but sometimes these dates can be quite wrong. It happens that we throw a lot of things in ignorance, though there is no need for it. Here’s a list of groceries that never get spoiled.

Salt

Salt, whether by sea or stone, cannot be spoiled and remains forever fresh, as it was on the day you purchased it.

Sugar

Sugar is not a problem of keeping it fresh, but of preventing it from becoming as solid as a stone. The sugar will never break because it does not allow the growth of bacteria. The only thing you have to do carefully is to keep it away from moisture and insects.

Honey

Honey has an unlimited shelf life. It may change color or crystallize, but will still be good for eating. If the honey crystallizes, simply place the open jar in warm water and stir until the crystals melt.

Rice

Even if a thick layer of dust is caught on the box, the rice will be just as good as the first day. This applies to all types of rice: long and short grains, white, basmati… But not brown rice, which is more prone to spoilage due to greater amount of oil. All you need to worry about is keeping the rice safe from the insects.

White vinegar

You can buy a large amount of white vinegar without fear of spoiling. Namely, it can last forever. And let’s remind you that besides salads and soups you can also use it as a great cleanser.

Vanilla extract

Pure vanilla extract will stay fresh forever because it is stored in pure alcohol. But be careful if it is really a vanilla extract since the artificial has a long shelf life. Keep this in mind.

Liquors

You do not have to rush to drink every drop of alcohol you have at home. In a well-sealed and cool place, the stored bottle may last as long as necessary. A cupboard of hard drinks is usually something to be inherited, but you do not have to worry about the quality of the grandmother’s inherited drink. Over time, drinks may slightly change their taste, but you probably won’t feel it.

Dried beans

And dry beans can stand for a long time. All it takes is a long time to soften before cooking, and sometimes it won’t soften at all, especially if it’s been two or three years. But the good thing is that it will not lose its nutritional value.

Maple syrup

Although you do not often use this food in your home, if you have it at home know that this has no shelf life. Similar to honey, maple syrup is most often used as a pancake or other confectionery coating.

Corn starch

And this food has an unlimited lifespan, but you must keep it in a cool place and well sealed. And as corn starch is not consumed so quickly, you can use it for a long time.

Instant coffee

Instant coffee in the fridge can be stored forever, whether the packaging is open or not.
