Begin with 6 or 8 kinds of straight carrots, and slice off the top and bottoms parts to make them look like little “buns”.  We’ll teach you how to prepare a healthy, hot dog bun.

Most of the ingredients are quite acidic, so use a little sweetener to balance that out. Give maple syrup a try. Date or agave syrup works as well.

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 peeled carrots

Marinade:

  • 1/4 cup low sodium Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 Apple Cider Vinegar Braggs
  • 1/4 Vegetable Broth low sodium
  • 2 Tbs Maple Syrup
  • 1 tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1 tsp Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tsp Fresh Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Pickled Jalapeno Juice
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder

Instructions:

Remove the peel from your carrots and boil them. Leave them to cook until they are soft( try out with a fork), for around 10-15 minutes. Drain the water in which you boiled the carrots and wash them properly with some cold water. Next, place them in a ziplock freezer bag.

To prepare the marinade, get soy sauce, ACV, vegetable broth, and liquid smoke (the main ingredients). Next add a tsp of Freshlyground garlic, a tsp of yellow mustard, and a tsp of pickled jalapeño juice.

Combine all of the ingredients necessary for the marinade until you blend and pour them into the carrot filled zip locks.

Place the bag on a plate in your refrigerator. Leave that sit for around 6 hours. Keep in mind to flip over the bag from time to time, to keep things mixed.

Grill the carrots after those 6 hours pass on the open grill until they get some blackened grill marks on each side. This is how you prepare your own Smoky Vegan Carrot Dogs. Garnish them with some mustard, ketchup, sauerkraut or perhaps some diced onions.
