Big Game Hunter Was Killed When Shot Elephant Collapsed On Top Of Him

Karma at it’s finest.

Theunis Botha, a 51-year-old big game hunter, was hunting with clients. At one point, they found themselves in the middle of an elephant breeding herd at a reserve near Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe this weekend, USA Today reports.

The elephants, by then entertained by one another, attacked the hunters who shot into the herd. One of the elephants grabbed Botha with a slurry and lifted him into the air. Hunters shot at the elephant, but the elephant collapsed and fell over it. Both died from their injuries.

Theunis Both is a family man with five children. He ran a safari for his company Theunis Botha Big Game. According to his website, he has perfected hunting for leopards and lions and has also run dogs on safari. He also chaired European hunter groups in southern Africa.

He often traveled to the US to build a business with wealthy Americans who were interested in hunting big game.
